our first 20 years
in 1988, much of the software used by business was sold by retailers, who knew how to move products, or built by programmers, who knew how to use technology. neither programmer nor retailer always had a firm or complete grasp of the end user�s business needs. business people often struggled with new and unfamiliar technology to achieve their goals. the promise of increased efficiency and profits remained elusive.
that year, in san rafael, california, i founded our firm with the notion that business software should be installed and supported by an advisor that could understand both the real-world problems and processes of business, and also had mastery of the technology that could make a business more efficient and profitable.
over those two decades my firm - our firm - has grown from a one man shop in the san francisco bay area to a group of seasoned consultants and technologists, each with at least 15, 20, or more years of experience. we are still based in northern california, but our consultants also live and work in kansas, nevada, and los angeles, and we also have customers from new york to chicago, from la to san francisco.
over the last 20 years, computers have changed � a lot. software has become more robust. in 2008, interoperability between programs and with the web is as important as customizability was in 1988.
but one thing hasn�t changed: to stay competitive, you need a partner who understands both your business and your software.
